I absolutely understand the big hype about Bondi Beach. The beach is wonderful. Almost every tourist who comes to NSW first stops here.
How could it be any different? After all, it is one of the most famous beaches in the world and one of the most popular surf spots in the world.
I prefer to spend my time on smaller beaches, which are not so crowded and well known, where you can lie undisturbed in the sun & where you don’t have to listen to the latest gangster rap from 25 different people who are just 15cm away.
My absolute number one – Tamarama Beach:
This beach is surrounded by meter high cliffs and has something very personal and private. Since I currently live in Rose Bay with my boyfriend, I need three minutes by car to get there and can then devote myself completely to sunbathing.
Second Milk Beach:
Definitely one of those beaches that takes my breath away every time. You have a view of the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and the whole city. You want the perfect sunset? This one will stay in your head forever. When Sydney sinks into the red-yellow light (God, that sounds kitschy, but that’s the way it is), you get the feeling you’re dreaming.
.
Third Athol Bay:
You’re looking for a place to be undisturbed? Then you’ve come to the right place. As it is not possible to park directly at this beach, there is usually no human soul there. Absolutely gorgeous. A few weeks ago we spent a whole day there and saw two people without a lie. No matter if after a stressful working day or on a hot Sunday morning, with this beach you can’t go wrong.
Fourth Reef Beach:
Reef Beach offers you the chance to retreat within Sydney, even if it’s only for one afternoon. This wonderful place, hidden at Dobroyd Head, has an incredible view over the North Harbour to Manly. You will spend most of your time with yourself, because almost nobody gets lost coming there.
And now, off to the sea and into the water. Enjoy it.
Love, Nathalie.
